About the Author

E.R. Zaugg Author/Artist of  Innatraea.

E.R. Zaugg is a neurodivergent poet, novelist, and parent whose work transforms personal experience into speculative theology. A lifelong traveler and student of global spiritual traditions—from Catholic mysticism to Kabbalistic cosmology to Buddhist philosophy to Pagan earth wisdom—he weaves insights from vulnerable cultures into fantasy that centers those historically erased from epic narratives.

His award-winning poetry and essays on raising a trans child draw from the conviction that choice, freedom, and universal rights matter more than any system that would deny them. As a single father from Seattle, he learned that the smallest acts of love create ripples powerful enough to reshape destinies—a truth that pulses through every page of his work.

The Innatraea series, beginning with Small Footsteps, reimagines epic fantasy through cultures inspired by Welsh, Armenian, Cherokee, Romani, and other peoples whose stories deserve cosmic significance. Each novella in the saga asks: what if the vulnerable weren't just survivors, but the prophetic center of creation itself? Through magic systems rooted in consent, warrior orders bonded to ancient trees, and immortal beings facing extinction, Zaugg crafts poetic prose that refuses to simplify power, trauma, or hope.

Dedicated to his child Siri, who taught him that creativity weaves dreams into reality, his books invite readers to embrace a deeper, more complicated love of humanity—one that honors both the weight of suffering and the radical possibility of restoration.
